IMAX & Planetarium
Q. I saw an ad on TV that said a movie was coming soon in IMAX®. Why isn't it at the Challenger Learning
Center IMAX® Theatre?
A. The short answer is that we will eventually play some movies that you may see advertised on TV, but not all of them.
Some of the movie distributors have determined that the Tallahassee market is too small to warrant the release of a
major film on the same day that it opens in regular movie theatres. We can usually get the film after it has completed its
run in major markets, but it will likely be 6-8 weeks after the date mentioned in the commercials you may have seen.
Q. Can I request a film to be played at the Challenger Learning Center IMAX® Theatre?
A. The IMAX film format is much different than regular movies. This is why only a select few "Hollywood" films ever
make it to the IMAX® screen. If you are familiar with a particular IMAX film and are interested in seeing it come to
Tallahassee, please send us an e-mail (mwatson@challengertlh.fsu.edu) and we will be happy to consider your suggestion as
a possibility for an upcoming release.
Q. How long are IMAX and Planetarium shows?
A. All shows are approximately 45 minutes except for the feature-length "Hollywood" films.
Q. Why are the times in the newspaper different from your schedule?
A. We place daily newspaper ads. Please be sure to use times from only today's edition of the newspaper as our show
times may change daily. We suggest getting the times directly from our Web site by
clicking here.
Q. When is the new show schedule updated and posted?
A. New schedules are posted weekly on Monday morning.
Q. How can I hear recorded show time information?
A. Call 850.644.IMAX (4629).
Q. How much are tickets? Do you have group rates?
A. Click here price information and we do have group rates.
You also may call our box office at 850.645.7796. Call our Group Sales Coordinator at 850.645.7777 for group rates.
Q. What happens if I arrive late for a show?
A. IMAX and Planetarium shows start promptly at their scheduled times. We typically do not show previews.
Q. Where are my 3D glasses?
A. Our IMAX Theatre shows all films in a 2D format. No 3D films are presented at this theatre.
Q. Do we always have to start shows on the hour?
A. Yes. Due to contractual obligations with film distributors, shows must play on the hour and every hour during our
operating hours.

A. Payment in advance is recommended. We accept cash, checks, credit cards (MasterCard and Visa) and purchase orders.

go over the maximum number due to space restraints.

Additional adult chaperones are offered our group rate and are asked to pay together when they arrive at the Challenger Learning Center.
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. If the mission is cancelled 15-30 days prior to the mission date, the school/organization that booked the mission simulator is responsible for seventy-five percent (75%) of the mission simulator cost, if applicable. If the mission is cancelled 0-14 days prior to the program date, the school/organization that booked the mission simulator is responsible for one hundred percent (100%) of the mission simulator cost, if applicable.
