Mission Statement

The Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee is the principal public outreach operation of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Our missions include the provision to K-12 students of standards-aligned, high-quality “hands-on” educational experiences in science and engineering through the use of high-fidelity aerospace simulators. Our state-of-the art, large-format and domed digital theaters significantly augment our ability to accomplish this mission through exhibition of thematically related large-format films and planetarium programs. Our mission also is to provide the general public with stunningly unique, hugely entertaining audio-visual experiences through acquisition for and exhibition in the theaters of the best films and programs available.

To be the recognized regional leader in informal science education and to be the leading destination for a regional audience of the absolute best in large-format film and planetarium programs anywhere.

Statement Regarding Facility Rentals at the Challenger Learning Center

All educational programs, activities, exhibits and presentations offered by the Challenger Learning Center are aligned to Sunshine State Standards. No departure from this policy is permitted. However, the Challenger Learning Center does allow outside organizations to rent the facility within certain guidelines. The rental guidelines prohibit activities, exhibits or presentations that may be pornographic, exceptionally violent or illegal.

The Challenger Learning Center cannot discriminate against any group that wishes to rent the center, as long they adhere to these guidelines. The Challenger Learning Center does not support, endorse, or sponsor such activities, exhibits or presentations by individuals or groups, or the individuals or groups themselves. These activities, exhibits or presentations are solely those of the individual or group and do not represent an offering, endorsement or other association of the Challenger Learning Center.
