Join us in March 2025 for Tallahassee’s first Chess Fest! Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, this exciting event has something for everyone.

Come celelbrate Tallahassee’s first ever Chess Fest!
Event Highlights:
- Friday Night Movie: Kick off the weekend with a free screening of Searching for Bobby Fischer. Bring your family, grab some popcorn, and be inspired by this chess classic.
- Interactive Activities: Explore demonstrations and hands-on activities designed to teach, challenge, and entertain chess lovers of all ages and skill levels.
- Grandmaster Showdown: On Saturday night, watch an epic show down featuring grandmasters Julio Becerra and Nikola Mitkov as they battle it out in an unforgettable match.
- Community Tournament: On Sunday, Tallahassee Young Knights Chess Club will host a USCF-rated chess tournament. The main event is a 4-round Quick tournament with side-event of a 6-round Blitz. See below for more details.

Format: 4-round Swiss, G/20 d5
Round Times: 10 am – 11 am – 1 pm – 2 pm
Registration: $30 by March 29, $5 additional on-site
Sections: Open, U1400, U800
Prizes: Open (1st Place $100 + trophy , 2nd Place $60, 1st U1600 $40), U1400 (1st Place $80 + trophy, 2nd Place $50, 1st U1100 $40), U800 (1st Place $80 + trophy, 2nd Place $50)
Side Event – Blitz
Format: 6-round Swiss, G/3 inc2
Round Times: 1st round 3:30 pm, ASAP therafter
Registration: $15 by March 29, $5 additional on-site
Sections: Open only
Prizes: 1st Place $80 + trophy , 2nd Place $60, 1st U1400 $30, 1st U800 $30
