Bee Bots

Grades K-2

Description

This easy-to-use robot is a perfect tool for teaching sequencing, estimation, and problem-solving. There are large direction cards with arrows on one side showing the direction the Bee Bot will move and on the other is an illustration of the Bee Bot with the button they should press. You can use this to map where you want them to code as a class or see if they can match a pattern. There are large mats with squares to show the spot the Bee Bots will move to according to the commands they give it. The mats are plastic and can have flowers, for example, drawn in dry erase markers. Which are easy to clean off afterwards. There are many lessons online you can use to meet whatever standards you are looking to achieve. Reading a story and coding the bot to mimic the story is an effective way to expand coding into Language Arts.

Our STEAM-themed camps feature hands-on activities led by experienced educators. The Challenger Learning Center’s “Camp Challenger” strives to ensure campers have fun in a safe and educational atmosphere. At the Challenger Learning Center, campers are guaranteed focused attention with a ratio of at least one educator for every eight children.

Camp counselors, as well as volunteers, are made up of teachers, students pursuing a degree in education, professionals with an extensive science background and/or individuals experienced with child care or best practices in education. Additionally, in order to maintain a secure atmosphere, all camp staff completes a Level 2 background check and all camp staff are diligent about checking identification of those dropping off/picking up children.
