RETURN OF THE IMAX
Tallahassee’s biggest IMAX theatre, hosted at the Challenger Learning Center in Downtown Tallahassee, is home to new release blockbusters and award-winning educational films. Closed since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IMAX recently finished a capital improvement project supported by the Community Redevelopment Agency, City of Tallahassee and Downtown Improvement Authority. After months of planning and preparation, the renovation included replacing all of the seats, rebuilding the seat platforms, increasing ADA accessibility and safety features, and replacing the giant 51’ x 72’ screen.

The new IMAX screen was installed on January 15 with the help of an IMAX crew, CLC staff and volunteers, and the Tallahassee ruck crew:
The new seats and lighting have been installed! The IMAX theatre now features 203 brand new seats, new track lighting and improved accessibility and safety features.
