Scout Programs
Immerse your group in the wonders of science through a captivating field trip to the Challenger Learning Center! Our facility offers an IMAX theater, a mesmerizing planetarium, a thrilling space mission simulator, and engaging educational demos that will spark curiosity and inspire all ages. Join us for an unforgettable experience that combines entertainment and learning, making science come alive in ways you’ve never imagined.
Planning Your Visit
The Challenger Learning Center offers Scout Astronomy and Science Programs to groups of 10 or more. Most programs fulfill all requirements for the badge/belt loop listed.
Scout programs are $20 per Scout. Cub Scout, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scout programs are $15 per scout. For an additional $50 travel fee (15 mile radius of CLC), the CLC Scout programs can come to your meeting place; excluding the astronomy programs.
Groups of 10 or more scouts interested in a specific badge program may contact our Group Sales Coordinator at sales@challengertlh.com to schedule a date and time. Details on individual programs are below.
Cub Scouts
The Challenger Learning Center offers the several Cub Scout programs. Reservations can be made for groups of 10 scouts or more. Programs are 3 hours in length and can be completed on weekday afternoons, evenings or weekends.
Option 1: Challenger Learning Center location
$15/scout; 10 scout minimum
Option 2: Location of your choice – CLC staff comes to you
$15/scout; 10 scout minimum; $50 travel fee if location within 15 mile radius of the Challenger Learning Center – additional charges may apply outside a 15 mile radius. *Travel cost not applicable to Tiger Adventure – Sky is the Limit as this program must be completed in our planetarium
Tiger Adventure – Sky is the Limit
Activities include:
Observe the night sky
- Look through and focus telescopes or binoculars
- Observe 2 constellations – name the stars and how the constellation got its name
- Create and name your own constellation
- Create a homemade constellation
- Research 2 jobs in astronomy
- Learn about 2 astronauts that were scouts
- Visit a planetarium.
- Share what you have learned with your den.
Wolf Adventure – Motor Away
Activities include:
- Create and fly three types of paper airplanes. Hypothesize, test and record your data.
- Make a paper airplane catapult. Hypothesize, test and record your data.
- Make two different boats and sail them
- Create a car that moves under its own power.
Bear Adventure – Forensics
Activities include:
- Discuss forensics and how it is used to solve crimes
- Analyze your fingerprints
- Learn about chromatography and how used to solve crimes.
- Do an analysis of four different substances: salt, sugar, baking soda and cornstarch
- Make a show imprint
- Learn about two different jobs in forensic science.
- Learn how animals are used to gather important evidence.
- Share what you have learned with your den.
- Visit a sheriff’s office or police station in your town. This requirement will not be completed.
Bear Adventure – Make it Move
Activities include:
- Create an “exploding” craft stick reaction
- Make two simple pulleys and use them to move objects
- Make a lever form a spool and paint stirrer. Explore
- Draw a Rube-Goldberg- type machine with at least 6 steps.
- Construct a Rube-Goldberg machine to complete a task. Us at least two simiple machines and include four steps.
Bear Adventure – Robotics
Activities include:
- Identify six tasks performed by robots
- Learn about some instances where a robot could be used in place of a human. Research one of these robots.
- Build a robot hand. Show how it is like and different from a human hand.
- Build your own robot.
- Visit a place that uses robots. This task completed only if done at the Challenger Learning Center.
Bear Adventure – Super Science
Activities include:
- Make static electricity.
- Conduct a balloon or other static electricity investigation.
- Conduct one other static electricity investigation.
- Do a sink or float investigation.
- Do a color morphing investigation.
- Do a color layering investigation.
- Explain what you have learned to your den.
Boy Scouts
The Challenger Learning Center offers several Boy Scout programs. Reservations can be made for groups of 10 scouts or more. Programs are 4 hours in length and can be completed on weekday afternoons, evenings or weekends.

Activities include:
- Build, launch, and recover a model rocket.
- Discover the basic principles of rocket science
- Learning about the history of the US Space Program
- Learning about satellites and how they operate
Brownie Girl Scouts
The Challenger Learning Center offers the several Brownie or Junior Girl Scout badges. Reservations can be made for groups of 10 scouts or more. Programs are 3 hours in length and can be done afternoons and weekends.
